Young people
I offer therapy to young people aged 11-18, creating a space where they can talk openly, feel heard, and begin to make sense of what’s going on for them.
Young people come to therapy for many reasons – anxiety, low mood, stress at school, family issues, identity questions, or past experiences that feel hard to carry. Others might be feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood and don’t always have the words for why. That’s okay – part of the work is figuring things out together.
My work with young people always starts with the building our relationship, years of working with young people has given me the skills needed to build a positive foundation, based on trust and mutual respect. In my experience this allows our young people to feel safe and able to share their thoughts and feelings in a healthy and therapeutic manner.
I may if suitable bring in tools from CBT Cognitive behavioural therapy to help with things like anxious thoughts, and/or use psychodynamic thinking to understand how past experiences or relationships might still be affecting how they feel now. All of my work is child led and at a pace that is comfortable and appropriate for them
Some young people prefer talking; others might find creative or visual approaches more helpful. I always aim to adapt the work to suit their style and needs.
Sessions are available face-to-face in Wallasey or Bromborough, or online for those who feel more comfortable working that way.
If you’re a young person – or a parent/carer – and want to explore whether therapy might help, you’re welcome to get in touch and we can have a chat about how I might be able to help support you
